The Green Bandana Project

The Green Bandana Project is a student program that raises mental health awareness and connects peers to resources. After completing two brief trainings and taking the pledge, members carry resource cards and tie a green bandana to their backpacks. This bandana signals to other students that they’re here to help and connect others to resources!
If you see someone wearing a green bandana, you can approach them to receive mental health and suicide prevention resources. These students will provide you with a card containing campus-specific and local resources for you to access.
What the program IS:
- Listening without judgement
- Distributing resource cards
- Empowering students to seek help
- Fighting stigma
What the program is NOT:
- NOT mental health treatment
- NOT peer counseling
- NOT crisis intervention
- NOT suicide risk assessment
